What is virtual reality?

As the name suggests Virtual reality is a computerized virtual world, accessible through “VR headsets“. Some VR setups display immersive environments through head-mounted displays that replace or supplement your view of the real world. A head-mounted display (HMD)  fully immerses the user in a virtual world. A VR headset typically includes two small high-resolution OLED or LCD monitors which provide separate images for each eye for stereoscopic graphics rendering a 3D virtual world. Virtual reality gives you the experience of a completely new environment. After wearing the VR headset, you will see a completely different environment around you.

Applications

Virtual reality is now being used in various fields like

  • Military
  • Healthcare
  • Business
  • Fashion
  • Sport
  • Media

  • Education etc.

  • It helps architectures in designing and planning and helps decision-makers to visualize the outcome of the proposed development.

Disadvantages

  • A good VR headset can be expensive.
  • It lacks flexibility, as in the real world you can interact with people but in the virtual world, you can’t.
